Verus A. Metzger was born on 20 June 1893.1 He was the son of Jeremiah Matthew Metzger and Alice Catherine Hetner. Verus A. Metzger married Mary Elizabeth Hauck, daughter of Newton Hauck and Margaret Ulmer, circa 1913.

Verus A. Metzger was the second son of Jeremiah and Alice Metzger. He married Mary Elizabeth Auch Metzger and they bought an adjoining farm from Dan Metzger. Dan Metzger was Jacob Metzger Sr.'s brother. Verus was a big strong man and worked vry hard. Verus and Mary had one son, Harry L. Metzger. Along with farming, Verus drove a big green truck in which he carried the farmers milk to the town of Williamsport. It didn't matter what kind of weather or where the farm was located in the community, Verus was dependable. For a time, Verus worked at 'The Motors' Avco in Williamsport. One time one of his co-workers played a trick on him. The man greased the wheels on a cart Verus had to wheel around. Verus found out who had done such a dangerous and foolish trick and the next morning when the man came to work, Verus was waiting for him. He grabbed the man by the throat and told him to never do that trick again. The man never fooled around with Verus Metzger again.
Harry L. Metzger married Cora Ulmer Metzger and they were the first bride and groom to be married in the State Road Church. Cora and Harry have one son, Eldon L. Metzger. Verus and Harry farmed together for many years and now Harry and his son Eldon are farming together on the farm of Verus Metzger.
Eldon Metzger is married to Bonnie Edwards Metzger and they have two children, Tennille and Shawn.
