George Miller Kress was born on 7 June 1878. He was the son of Burrows T. Kress and Maria Emilie Rhote. George Miller Kress died on 20 March 1895 at age 16 years, 9 months and 13 days. He was buried on 23 March 1895 in the Salladasburg Cemetery, located in Salladasburg, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.1

The hand of death has again visited Pine Run school, and removed there from George Miller Kress, son of B. T. Kress, of Anthony township. George was just growing to manhood, and had a pleasant face and cheerful word for all he met. In his death the teacher loses an obedient pupil, the scholars a cheerful companion, and the parents a kind and loving son. The deceased left school monday afternoon and kept continually growing worse until the following Wednesday evening, when the death angel gave the summons. Death was due to an abscess forming in the bowels. The funeral took place from the residence Saturday morning, with services at the Salladasburg M. E. church, conducted by Rev. J. B. Fox, of Lycoming circuit. Internment at Salladasburg cemetery. The deceased was 16 years, 10 months and 14 days of age.

This Bible originally belonged to Abraham Stabler (1845-1923) being handed down on his death to his son Pierce Albert Stabler (1871-1941) and remained in the Stabler household until his death. At this time his son Frederick Ulmer Stabler (1907-2005) owned the Bible until the time of his death at which time it passed to his son Daniel Leroy Stabler.
