James Lloyd Sholder was born on 19 June 1913 at farm of Christian (Scholderer) Sholder, Old Lycoming Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.3,5,4 He was the son of Frederick Sholder and Matilda Helen Miller. James Lloyd Sholder was baptized, at age 2 years and 8 days, on Sunday, 27 June 1915 at Bethel United Presbyterian Church, Bottle Run, Old Lycoming Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. He first married, at age 21, Grace Mildred Hafer, age 21, daughter of Walter Henry Hafer and Margaret Elizabeth Roller, on Saturday, 23 June 1934 at Evangelical United Brethren Church, Newberry, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, by the Reverend Benjamin Griffin Hoffman.6,7 James Lloyd Sholder married a second time, at age 54, Sara Manno, age 54, daughter of Vito Manno and Gaetana Vasci, on Saturday, 15 June 1968 at Italian Christian Church, Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.3 James Lloyd Sholder died on 9 January 1969 at Williamsport Hospital, Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, at age 55 years, 6 months and 21 days. He died from cancer.3,5,4 He was buried on 13 January 1969 in the Buchanan Baptist Church Cemetery, located in Old Lycoming Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. The funeral service was officiated by Reverend William M. Birdsall.3,5
James Lloyd Sholder appears in snapshot circa 1918. This was taken at the home of Fred and Matilida Sholder. He was employed by the Pennsylvania Power & Light Company between 1942 and 1968.7,3 He appears in a 25th wedding anniversary portrait in 1959. The anniversary announcement for James Lloyd Sholder and Grace Mildred Hafer was published sometime in June 1964 in the local paper, printed in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. This announcement stated:
Mr. and Mrs. James L. Sholder, Williamsport R.D. 2, will observe their 30th wedding anniversary Tuesday June 23.
They were married in the Newberry Evangelical United Brethren Church by the Rev. B. G. Hoffman. Mrs. Sholder is the former Grace M. Hafer.
The Sholder's are the parents of a daughter, Mrs. Richard Robinson, Williamsport R.D. 2, and a son Leonard, Pleasant Gap. There are two grandchildren.
Mr. and Mrs. Sholder are members of the Bethel United Presbyterian Church, Bottle Run.
Mr. Sholder is employed by the Pennsylvania Power and Light Co.
The couple will be honored at an open house to be held at their home from 2 to 5 p.m., Sunday, June 28.7

Born June 19, 1913, in Old Lycoming Township, Mr. Sholder was a Pennsylvania Power and Light Company meter inspector. He was employed by the utility for 26 years.
He was a member of Bethel United Presbyterian Church where he was an elder and a trustee. Surviving are his wife, the former Sara Manno [second wife]; a daughter, Mrs. Lois M. Robinson, of Linden RD 1; a son, Leonard P., of Bellefonte; two brothers, Nelson, of Collomsville, and Victor P., of Williamsport RD 2; two sisters, Mrs. Vinnie Biichle and Mrs. Erma Pryor, both of this city, and five grandchildren.
Services will be on Monday at 10:30 a.m. in his church, with the pastor, the Rev. William M. Birdsall, officiating. Burial will be in Buchanan Cemetery. Friends may call today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Knight funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.3
