Mary J. Downing was born on 12 January 1847 at Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of Thomas G. Downing and Julia Ann Bastian. Mary J. Downing married, at age 23, George S. Stolz, son of George Stolz and Maria Aderhold, on Thursday, 13 January 1870. Mary J. Downing died in 1920 at Muncy, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, at age 72 years. She was buried in the Muncy Cemetery, located in Muncy, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.
