Joseph Coudon IV was born on 30 June 1858 at Woodlands, Cecil County, Maryland.¹ He was the son of Joseph Coudon III and Caroline Whitaker.¹ Joseph Coudon IV married, at age 21, Araetta Maria Wroth, age 25 on Wednesday, 26 November 1879.¹ Joseph Coudon IV died on 18 February 1940 at Woodlands, Cecil County, Maryland, at age 81 years, 7 months and 17 days.¹ He was buried in the Saint Mary Ann's Episcopal Cemetery, located in North East, Cecil County, Maryland.¹
