Francis Asbury Whitaker was born in November 1799 at Hopewell Furnace, Berks County, Pennsylvania.¹ He was the son of Joseph Musgrove Whitaker and Sarah Updegrove. Francis Asbury Whitaker married, at age 24, Leah Evans, age 24 on Thursday, 13 May 1824 at New Castle County, Delaware.¹ Francis Asbury Whitaker died on 18 March 1876 at age 76 years and 4 months.¹ He was buried in the Laurel Hill Cemetery, located in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania.¹
