John Whitaker was born on 3 October 1796 at Hopewell Furnace, Berks County, Pennsylvania.1 He was the son of Joseph Musgrove Whitaker and Sarah Updegrove. John Whitaker married, at age 19, Rachel Ruth on Sunday, 7 July 1816.1 John Whitaker died on 18 March 1874 at age 77 years, 5 months and 15 days.1 He was buried in the Charles Evans Cemetery, located in Reading, Berks County, Pennsylvania.1
