Carl W. Smith was born on 2 September 1916.1 He was the son of Lawshe C. Smith and Ruth Wurster. Carl W. Smith first married, at age 20, Elizabeth P. Fullmer, age 19, daughter of William E. Fullmer and Elizabeth E. Smith, on Saturday, 9 January 1937 at home of William Fullmer, Garden View, Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, by the Reverend Benjamin Griffin Hoffman.1 Carl W. Smith married a second time, at age 57, Arlene Tyson on Friday, 5 July 1974. Carl W. Smith died on 8 February 2007 at Divine Providence Hospital, The Gatehouse, Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, at age 90 years, 5 months and 6 days.2
His obituary was published on 10 February 2007 in the Williamsport Sun-Gazette, printed in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. His obituary stated:
Carl W. Smith, 90, of 1700 Richards Ave., died Thursday, Feb. 8, 2007 at the Gatehouse Hospice Unit following a brief illness.
Carl had been a T.V. repairman for over 50 years and owned the former Phil-Carl Electronics on Memorial Avenue for 25 years. He was a member of St. John’s-Newberry United Methodist Church and an Army veteran of WW II, where he had been held in Germany as a prisoner of war.
Born Sept. 2, 1916 in Jersey Shore, he was the son of Lawshe and Ruth Wurster Smith.
Surviving is his wife, the former Fontella Weaver. He was predeceased by his first wife, the former Elizabeth P. Fullmer in 1972 and his son, Lee C. Smith in 2006.
A private funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in Jersey Shore Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Gatehouse Hospice Unit, 1100 Grampian Blvd. Knight-Confer Funeral Home.2
