Abner Updegraff was born on 22 September 1848 at Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania.1 He was the son of Uriah Updegraff and Ann Covode. Abner Updegraff married, at age 21, Ann Rebecca Wisegarver, age 20, daughter of John Wisegarver and Mary [—?—], on Thursday, 24 February 1870.1 Abner Updegraff died on 21 January 1917 at Ligonier, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, at age 68 years, 3 months and 30 days.1
He farmed the old homestead in Fairfield Township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. He was a Republican and interested in educational affairs, he served as school director for three years in Fairfield Township.1
