David L. Sleeper1

     David L. Sleeper was born in June 1856 at Iowa. He was the son of John Sleeper and Lucy Branch.1 David L. Sleeper married, at age 21, Mary Dell Burson, age 20, daughter of John Burson and Sarah Louise Creamer, on Wednesday, 7 November 1877 at Athens County, Ohio.1 David L. Sleeper died before 1920 at Lawton, Comanche County, Oklahoma.1
     He and Mary Dell Burson appeared on the census of 1 June 1900 at Columbus, 19th Ward, Franklin County, Ohio. David was an attorney in Athens, Ohio and served two terms as Speaker of the House of Repesentives in Ohio. President McKinley appointed David as a Special Federal Land Agent at the opening of Indian Land in Oklahoma about 1901. They lived in Oklahoma City, Tulas and Lawton, Oklahoma.1 David L. Sleeper and Mary Dell Burson appeared on the census of 20 April 1910 at Oklahoma City, 1st Ward, Oklahoma County, Oklahoma. David L. Sleeper appeared on the census of 23 April 1910 in the household of John B. Sleeper and Allie Viola Catron at Lawton, 2nd Ward, Comanche County, Oklahoma.
