February 14th 1864

Oh Solomon, dear Solomon, I now improve the time
In penning to you a line or two, in form of a Valentine
You know I long have loved you, but neer that love returned
But I am not discouraged yet, altho you me have scorned

If you go to see another, remember on the road
My spirit it will chase you to the house of your abode
So to quide against all trouble and smooth your path of life
You must propose immediately and Ill become your wife

So attend with haste this warning, much trouble it may save
It may snatch your true and trusting lover from an untimely grave
But if you heed it not and careless pass it by
My spirit it will haunt you untill the day you die.
