Archie L. Gohl1

     Archie L. Gohl was born on 28 November 1885 at Mifflin Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.1 He was the son of William Valentine Gohl and Esther Watts. Archie L. Gohl has also been reported to have been born 28 November 1887. He married, at age 31, Margaret G. Kiess, age 19, daughter of Simon Kiess and Elizabeth A. Smith, on Wednesday, 24 January 1917.2,3 Archie L. Gohl died on 4 April 1962 at Jersey Shore Hospital, Jersey Shore, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, at age 76 years, 4 months and 7 days.4,1 He was buried on 7 April 1962 in the Jersey Shore Cemetery, located in Jersey Shore, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.1
     He was the owner of a grocery store. The following article about Archie L. was published sometime in December 1939 in the local paper, printed in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. This article stated:

     Archie Gohl, 52, Held for Hearing on Charge of possessing Gambling Devices. The proprietor of a Larryville store and service station was arrested Tuesday evening by State Motor Police on charges of setting up and maintaining gambling devices.

Private Donald W. Hay, Williamsport barracks, reported the defendant, is Archie Gohl, 52, Larryville, and reported that one automatic pay-off slot machine, a pin-ball machine and two money punch boards were confiscated. Gohl was released under his own recognizance for a hearing before Justice of the Peace E. Q. Crane this afternoon.
