Edna Shafer

     Edna Shafer was born on 23 November 1885 at Eldred Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.1 She was the daughter of Ephraim Shafer and Melinda Koch. Edna Shafer married Fred C. Gehr, son of Jacob Gehr and Catharina Regina Ludwig, in 1917.1 Edna Shafer died on 20 February 1932 at Pleasant Valley, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, at age 46 years, 2 months and 28 days.1 She was buried in the Blooming Grove Cemetery, located in Hepburn Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.

Edna Shafer was born November 23, 1885 in Eldred Township, the third daughter of Melinda Koch and Ephraim Shafer. She attended the North Eldred School and graduated from Muncy Normal School in 1905. Later she attended the Baptist Institute in Philadelphia, graduating in 1915.

She was an active member of the Hepburn Baptist Church where she was a member of the missionary society and interested in the young people's work. She served as head of the primary department of the Sunday School for many years. Her devotion to her church was apparent to all who knew her.

In 1917 Edna married Fred Gehr, who was born December 17, 1884. Edna died February 20, 1932 and Fred died August 11, 1955.1
