     Herman Irwin Friedline was born on 1 March 1847 at Bakersville, Somerset County, Pennsylvania.1 He was the son of John Peter Friedline and Catherine Jane Morrison. Herman Irwin Friedline first married, at age 27, Emma Elizabeth Bell, age 21, daughter of Frederick Bell and Susan Tritle, on Wednesday, 28 October 1874.1 Herman Irwin Friedline married a second time, at age 43, Mary Charlotte Forney on Wednesday, 21 January 1891 at Lyons, Rice County, Kansas.1 Herman Irwin Friedline died on 6 February 1930 at Alden, Rice County, Kansas, at age 82 years, 11 months and 5 days.1
     He and Emma Elizabeth Bell moved west with their family circa 1878.
