Mary E. Updegraff was born on 31 August 1845.1 She was the daughter of Thomas Updegraff and Rebecca Raiguel.2,1 Mary E. Updegraff married, at age 28, William Henry Melhuish on Thursday, 25 June 1874.1 Mary E. Updegraff died in 1929 at age 83 years.1 She was buried in the Wildwood Cemetery, located in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.
Mary E. Updegraff also went by the name of Mollie. She appeared on the census of 1850 in the household of Thomas Updegraff and Rebecca Raiguel at Lycoming Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. In the 1880 census, Mary (Mollie) is listed as a widow, living with her mother Rebecca, brother Daniel and four sisters, plus her daughter Mary R. Melhuish, age 5.
