     Herbert T. Shafer was born on 17 November 1898 at Blooming Grove, Hepburn Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.1 He was the son of John Benjamin Schaeffer and Sarah Spotts. Herbert T. Shafer married, at age 23, Emma Leola Yarrison, age 19 on Tuesday, 30 May 1922.1 Herbert T. Shafer died on 8 January 1981 at Williamsport Hospital, Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, at age 82 years, 1 month and 22 days.2 He was buried in the Green Lawn Memorial Park, located in Montgomery, Clinton Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.2
     He was Auto Repair Shop Owner.
