Margaret Caroline Foltz was born on 21 September 1919 at Muskogee, Muskogee County, Oklahoma.1,3 She was the daughter of William Edwin Foltz and Mabel Melrose McNees.4 Margaret Caroline Foltz married, at age 22, Kermit Johnson Schmidt, age 32 on Sunday, 30 August 1942 at Muskogee, Muskogee County, Oklahoma.2 Margaret Caroline Foltz died on 24 April 2007 at age 87 years, 7 months and 3 days.3
Margaret attended school in Muskogee and then in 1941 she graduated from Washington University in St. Louis. She attended WMU Training School in Louisville, where she also met and married Kermit. The lived in Radford, Virginia until 1944, after which they spent two years as missionaries in Rio De Janero, Brazil. They then moved to Bacone and then to Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1953. In 1972 she received her Masters degree in Psy. from Tulsa University. She worked for the State Disability Board for many years and now teaches Social Studies. Margaret has enjoyed traveling and had lifelong hobbies of collecting and photography.2 Her obituary was published on 26 April 2007 in the Tulsa World, printed in Tulsa, Tulsa County, Oklahoma. Her obituary stated:
SCHMIDT- Margaret Foltz, 87, of Tulsa, passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2007. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kermit J. Schimdt, former Associate Pastor First Baptist Church. Survived by: 3 daughters, Carolyn Kaye Arnett, Louisville, KY, Peggy Schmidt, Louisville, Liz McNown, El Dorado, KS; 3 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. Service will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, April 27, in the Chapel of First Baptist Church. Interment at Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials to First Baptist Church Benevolence Fund or Bacone College. Moore's Rosewood Chapel, 744-1202.
