William Updegraff was born on 23 February 1893 at Shelbyville, Shelby County, Indiana.1 He was the son of Joseph Martin Updegraff and Mary Elizabeth Birely. William Updegraff married, at age 19, Catherine Fawcett, age 19, daughter of William R. Fawcett and Lizzie [—?—], in November 1912 at Pennsylvania.2 William Updegraff died on 11 August 1974 at age 81 years, 5 months and 19 days.1 He was buried in the Earlham Cemetery, located in Richmond, Wayne County, Indiana.3
