     Elmer Ivan Updegraff was born on 21 July 1913 at Weirton, Hancock County, West Virginia.1 He was the son of William Updegraff and Catherine Fawcett. Elmer Ivan Updegraff married Anna Louise Ayers, daughter of Walter Ray Ayers and Cora [—?—], in 1936 at Richmond, Wayne County, Indiana.1 Elmer Ivan Updegraff died in April 1952 at age 38 years and 8 months.1 He was buried in the Earlham Cemetery, located in Richmond, Wayne County, Indiana.1
     He was a self taught musician on string and woodwind instruments. He was employed by International Harvester.
