Dallas Warren Updegraff was born on 27 March 1922 at Clark County, Illinois.1 He was the son of Grover Ansel Updegraff and Stella Seaton. Dallas Warren Updegraff married, at age 31, Helen Ladina Stinson, age 32, daughter of Thomas Stinson and Nettie [—?—], on Friday, 8 May 1953 at Martinsville, Clark County, Illinois.1 Dallas Warren Updegraff died on 22 April 2005 at age 83 years and 26 days. He was buried in the Casey-Cumberland Cemetery, located in Casey, Clark County, Illinois.
He was employed by the Illinois Department of Conservation in 1970. His obituary was published on 23 April 2005 in the Tribune-Star, printed in Terre Haute, Vigo County, Indiana. His obituary stated:
CASEY, Ill. - Dallas Warren Updegraff, 83, of Casey died at 7:15 a.m. Friday, April 22, 2005, in Heartland Manor. He was employed by Ettlebrick Shoe Co. for 27 years and the Illinois Department of Conservation for 17 years. He was born March 27, 1922, in Martinsville to Grover Ansel Updegraff and Stella Seaton Updegraff. He married Helen Verleigh Stinson May 8, 1953, and she preceded him in death Dec. 27, 2002. Survivors include one great-nephew, Paul Anderson and his wife Sharon of Casey; one great-niece, Elaine Reynolds and her husband Don of Westfield; five nephews, Dennis Updegraff and his wife Debbie of Westfield, Larry Updegraff and his wife Linda of Brocton, Ray Updegraff and his wife Norma and Duane Updegraff, both of Ashmore, and Marvin Leon Updegraff and his wife Dorothy of Paris; two nieces, Treva Ayers and her husband Tom of Chrisman and Jeanette Pennell of Decatur; sister-in-law, Kathleen Updegraff of Westfield; and special friends, Jack and Wanda Brown of Westfield. He also was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Dessa Combs and Pauline Ennis; and four brothers, Harry, Marvin, Willie and Bruce Updegraff. He was a member and former trustee of Casey United Methodist Church. He also was a member of Casey Masonic Lodge, Free, Ancient and Accepted Masons, Danville Consistory and Order of Eastern Star. Services are 11 a.m. Monday in Markwell & Son Funeral Home, with the Rev. Penelope Barber officiating. Burial is in Casey Cumberland Cemetery, with Paul Anderson, Paul Lee, Gary Lee, Greg Ramsay, Terry Honselman and Jack Brown serving as pallbearers. Visitation is 9 a.m. to services Monday in the funeral home. If friends so desire, memorial contributions may be made to Casey United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 365, Casey, IL 62420.
