     William Updegraff was born on 26 March 1838 at Shelby County, Indiana.1 He was the son of John Updegraff and Catherine Baker. William Updegraff married, at age 35, Maria Ross on Wednesday, 26 March 1873 at Shelby County, Indiana. William Updegraff died on 4 January 1915 at Shelby County, Indiana, at age 76 years, 9 months and 9 days.1 He was buried in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery, located in Shelby County, Indiana.1
     He family lived in Franklin, Johnson County, Indiana for ten years, then removed to Shelby County, Indiana.
