Mary Amanda Waltz was born on 25 May 1862 at Old Lycoming Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of Gottleib Waltz and Catharina Hettner. Mary Amanda Waltz married, at age 23, Samuel Sheets, age 26, son of Abraham Schiedt and Regina Marquardt, on Tuesday, 8 December 1885.
