Samuel Sheets was born in July 1859 at Anthony Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Abraham Schiedt and Regina Marquardt. Samuel Sheets married, at age 26, Mary Amanda Waltz, age 23, daughter of Gottleib Waltz and Catharina Hettner, on Tuesday, 8 December 1885.
