     Sarah Matilda Scherer was born on 2 April 1868 at Whetstone Township, Crawford County, Ohio. She was the daughter of Samuel Scherer and Elizabeth Haller.1 Sarah Matilda Scherer married, at age 33, John J. Kurtz, age 31, son of John George Kurz and Katherine Geibler, on Wednesday, 25 December 1901.1 Sarah Matilda Scherer died on 17 June 1965 at Crawford County, Ohio, at age 97 years, 2 months and 15 days. She was buried in the Scherer Cemetery, located in Whetstone Township, Crawford County, Ohio.
     Sarah Matilda's surname has also been spelled as Sherer.
