Ruth Ann Drick was born on 21 July 1920 at Pennsylvania.2 She was the daughter of Charles Edward Drick and Carrie L. Gatz. Ruth Ann Drick married, at age 26, Floyd L. Metzger, age 28, son of Isaiah Metzger and Helen M. Horn, on Saturday, 14 June 1947.1,2 Ruth Ann Drick died on 9 October 2004 at Muncy, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, at age 84 years, 2 months and 18 days.2
Her obituary was published on 11 October 2004 in the Williamsport Sun-Gazette, printed in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. Her obituary stated:
Ruth A. Metzger, 84, of 824 Village Road, Pennsdale, passed away on Saturday, October 9, 2004, at the Muncy Valley Hospital after being stricken at home.
She was born on July 21, 1920, the daughter of the late Charles and Carrie Drick.
Ruth was the wife of the late Floyd Metzger, who passed away on March 11, 2003. They had celebrated 54 years of marriage.
She and her husband had been life long dairy farmers and had retired in 1984.
She was a member of St. James Lutheran (White Church) of Pennsdale and was also a member of the church’s ladies Chi Rho group.
Ruth is survived by her three daughters and sons-in-law, Carol (Gene) McCarty of Hughesville, Lois (Dick) Beaver of Muncy and Joyce (Ken) Mitterling of Watsontown; seven grandchildren, Lisa (Mark) Inman of Canton, Lori McCarty of Hughesville, Brenda (Mike) Farrell of Danville, Brian (Stacie) Beaver of Watsontown, Kevin Beaver of Muncy and Amber and Bethany Mitterling of Watsontown; a brother, Clifford Drick of Montoursville; and a sister-in-law, Betty Metzger of Montoursville.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Harold and a sister, Pauline.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water St., Hughesville, with Pastor Beverly Cotner, her pastor, officiating. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 2 to 3 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. The family will provide the flowers and suggest memorial contributions be made to the Memorial Fund of St. James Lutheran Church P.O. Box 577, Muncy, PA 17756.2
