Floyd L. Metzger was born on 27 May 1919 at Anthony Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.1 He was the son of Isaiah Metzger and Helen M. Horn.1 Floyd L. Metzger married, at age 28, Ruth Ann Drick, age 26, daughter of Charles Edward Drick and Carrie L. Gatz, on Saturday, 14 June 1947.1,2 Floyd L. Metzger died on 11 March 2003 at Muncy Valley Hospital, Sullivan County, Pennsylvania, at age 83 years, 9 months and 12 days.1
His obituary was published on 13 March 2003 in the Williamsport Sun-Gazette, printed in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. His obituary stated:
Floyd L. Metzger, 83, of 824 Village Road, Pennsdale, died Tuesday, March 11, 2003, at the Muncy Valley Hospital. He and his wife, the former Ruth Drick, would have celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary on June 14.
Floyd was a retired farmer. He was a member of the St. James Lutheran Church and a member of the White Church Cemetery Assoc. He was a member and past local president of the Eastern Milk Producers Assoc. and had been on the board of the A.S.C. Extension Office. He was also on the board of the West Branch Insurance Co.
Born May 27, 1919, in Quenshukeny, he was a son of Isaiah and Helen Metzger.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are three daughters, Carol (Gene) McCarty of Hughesville, Lois (Dick) Beaver of Muncy and Joyce (Ken) Mitterling of Watsontown and seven grandchildren, Lisa (Mark) Inman, Lori McCarty, Brenda Beaver and her fiance Mike Farrell, Brian (Stacie) Beaver, Kevin Beaver, Amber and Bethany Mitterling. Floyd was predeceased by a sister, Florence Bubb and a brother, Clair Metzger.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Friday at McCarty-Thomas’, 557 E. Water St., Hughesville, with Pastor Beverly Cotner officiating. Burial will be in St. James Lutheran (White Church) Cemetery. Friends may call from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. The family will provide the flowers. Memorials may be made to the St. James Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 1679 Lycoming Mall Road, Pennsdale, PA 17756.1
