Samuel Jacob Eckard was born on 30 July 1935 at Hepburn Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. He was the son of John George Eckard and Irene Butler.1 Samuel Jacob Eckard married, at age 23, Mary Jane Reside, age 21 on Saturday, 16 August 1958 at Montoursville, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.1,2 Samuel Jacob Eckard died on 5 July 2003 at Manor Care Health Center, Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, at age 67 years, 11 months and 5 days.
His obituary was published on 8 July 2003 in the Williamsport Sun-Gazette, printed in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. His obituary stated:
Samuel J. Eckard, 67, of 565 Keller Loop, Williamsport, died July 5, 2003, at Manor Care North. Born July 30, 1935, in Hepburnville, he was the son of John and Irene Butler Eckard.
He was the widower of the former Mary Jane Reside who died in 1996.
He retired from the former Williamsport Beverage Company. He was a member of The Christian Church at Cogan Station.
Surviving are a son, Marc W. (Mary Beth) of Fayetteville, N.C; a daughter, Lisa V. Eckard of Linden; two brothers, Francis and Robert, both of Williamsport; four sisters, Dorothy Lee and Mary Pearsall, both of Montoursville, Betty Calvert of Trout Run and Esther Bower of Cogan Station; and a grandson, Todd Eckard.
Memorial services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Dunkard Church, Dunkard Road, Cogan Station, with his pastor, Rev. Harry R. Yoder officiating. Friends will be received at the church Wednesday from 1 to 2 p.m. Family will provide the flowers. Arrangements by Spitler Funeral Home, Montoursville.1
