     Charlene R. Barnes was born on 21 August 1929 at Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.4,3,5 She was the daughter of Charles E. Barnes and Alma C. Young.6,7 Charlene R. Barnes married Mahlon R. Stiger in 1956.8 Charlene R. Barnes died on 23 November 2004 at age 75 years, 3 months and 2 days.3,9 She was buried on 29 November 2004 in the Montoursville Cemetery, located in Montoursville, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. The funeral service was officiated by Reverend Dan A. Leet and Reverend Allen Goss.10
     She was widowed at age 58 by the death of Mahlon on 14 March 1988.11,12 As of 2003, Charlene R. Barnes lived at 6760 Seneca Ridge Road, York, Pennsylvania.13 Her obituary was published on 26 November 2004 in the Williamsport Sun-Gazette, printed in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. Her obituary stated:

     Charlene B. Stiger of 6760 Seneca Ridge Road, York, PA, died on Nov. 23, 2004, after courageously living life to the fullest despite heart and lung disease. She was born in Williamsport on Aug. 21, 1929, the daughter of Charles E. and Alma C. Young Barnes.

She was married for 32 years to Mahlon R. Stiger, who passed away in 1988. They jointly owned the Dew Drop Inn, York, PA. Charlene was a member of the East End Baptist Church in Williamsport and a lifetime member of Beta Sigma Phi.

She recently attended her 67th first grade reunion of the Becht's School in Williamsport and celebrated her 75th birthday with a party at the Williamsport Holiday Inn Complex that was attended by over 100 people.

Surviving are her son, Gregory A. (Connie) Stiger of Springfield, VA; a daughter, Tammy (William) Jeffries of New Freedom, PA; six brothers and three sisters, Donald E. (Kay) Barnes of York, PA, George W. (Minnie) Barnes of Woodland, PA, Kenneth E. (Gerri) Barnes, Eugene S. (Barbara) Barnes, Melvin A. (Doris) Barnes and Marlin A. (Carolee) Barnes, all of Williamsport; and sisters, Ada Bercaw of Titusville, Fla., Dorothy Pautienus of Henrietta, N.Y., and Virginia Harrison of Montoursville.

She also leaves three grandchildren, Jayson, Christopher and Melissa Jeffries; a step grandson, Christopher (Shannon) Williams, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and her faithful cat, Molly, a beloved and precious companion.

In addition to her husband, she is predeceased by two brothers, Harold A. Barnes and Robert Barnes, and two sisters, Betty Buck and Mary Phillips.

The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday at the East End Baptist Church, 801 Washington Blvd., Williamsport, with the Rev. Dan A. Leet and the Rev. Allen Goss officiating. Interment will follow in the Montoursville Cemetery. Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Spitler Funeral Home, 733 Broad St., Montoursville. Memorial contributions may be made to the East End Baptist Church, or to L.A.P.S., 3510 W. Fourth St., Williamsport, PA 17701.7 According to the Social Security Administrations Death Index Charlene's last known residence was York, York County, Pennsylvania.3
