Charles B. Carpenter was born on 26 August 1938 at Linden, Woodward Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.3,2 He was the son of John Charles Carpenter and Margaret M. Whipple.2,1 Charles B. Carpenter first married, at age 19, Carole A. Henne, age 20 on Saturday, 7 June 1958.2 Charles B. Carpenter married a second time, at age 40, Terri Maneval on Saturday, 16 September 1978.2 Charles B. Carpenter died on 30 October 2003 at Jersey Shore Hospital, Jersey Shore, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, at age 65 years, 2 months and 4 days.3,2 He was buried on 4 November 2003 in the Woodward Township Cemetery, located in Woodward Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. The funeral service was officiated by Reverend Mark A. Beard.2
He became a widower at the age of 35 with the death of Carole in June 1974.2,4 As of circa 2003, Charles B. Carpenter lived at 1443 Pine Run Road, Linden, Pennsylvania.1,2

Born Aug. 26, 1938, in Linden, he was the son of John C. and Margaret M. Whipple Carpenter. Charlie and his wife, Terry Maneval Carpenter were married Sept. 16, 1978. He is a 1957 graduate of South Williamsport High School.
Even though Charlie had always been a farmer he was employed by the Williamsport Dept. of Parks and Recreation and in that capacity he became known as the “Rocket Man,” because for many years Charlie was always the one who set off the July 4th fireworks in the city. He also had worked at Bethlehem Steel until he left their employ in 1990 to become a farmer full-time. Charlie enjoyed being with his grandchildren and going to tractor pulls.
Surviving in addition to his wife are his daughter, Charlene Bryan Schuler of city; sons, John L. Carpenter Sr., and Charles B. Carpenter Jr., both of Linden, Kevin S. Bryan of Liverpool and Daniel L. Carpenter of city; grandsons, Benjamin D., Zachary J. and John L. Carpenter Jr; and sister, Agnes M. Steppe of Jersey Shore.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Carole Henne Carpenter, in 1974, his father in 1973 and his mother in 1974.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. from Sanders Mortuary, 821 Diamond St., with the Rev. Mark A. Beard officiating. Burial will be in Woodward Twp. Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Sanders. Those who wish may contribute memorials in Charlie’s name to the Lycoming Christian Church Scholarship Fund, 20 Chapel Hill Road, Linden, PA 17744.2
