She married, at age 26, Thomas Jewell Mayes, age 28, son of Wiley Mayes and Olive Lavon Hewitt, on Tuesday, 23 January 1923. Mahala Lulu Polley died on 26 July 1952 at Woodward, Woodward County, Oklahoma, at age 55 years, 6 months and 10 days. She was buried in the Moscow Flats Cemetery, located in Woodward County, Oklahoma.
