Dean R. Ireland was born on 9 July 1930 at Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.1,2 He was the son of Milo M. Ireland and Mary S. Gehr.2,3 Dean R. Ireland married Patricia A. Patrick in 1971.2 Dean R. Ireland died on 10 August 2001 at Williamsport Hospital, Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, at age 71 years, 1 month and 1 day.1,2 He was buried on 14 August 2001 in the Stoltz Cemetery, located in Hepburn Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. The funeral service was officiated by Reverend Francis L. Pauselli.2
His obituary was published on 11 August 2001 in the Williamsport Sun-Gazette, printed in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. His obituary stated:
Dean R. Ireland, 71, of 725 Sylvan Drive, South Williamsport, died Friday, August 10, 2001 at the Williamsport Hospital following a lengthy illness.
He and his wife, the former Patricia A. Patrick, were married 30 years.
He retired in 1989 as a clerk for the United States Postal Service following 35 years of service. He was a former president of the local APWU and former Secretary/Treasurer for the APWU State of PA. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War, a member of American Legion Post 1, a member of T.P.A., and enjoyed gardening and computers. Dean was also a 1947 graduate of the Williamsport High School and attended Lycoming College.
He was born in Williamsport on July 9, 1930, a son of Milo & Mary Gehr Ireland.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a son, Darcy D. S; a daughter, Deanna M., both at home; two brothers, Milo, city and Jack of Montgomery; a sister, Sally Ireland, South Williamsport; and four grandchildren, Mariah A. Ireland, South Williamsport, Nicholas and Richie Dziewit, Philadelphia and Dean Ireland of Florida. A son, Terry, preceded him in death.
Funeral service at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Knight-Confer Funeral Home, 1914 Memorial Ave., with Rev. Francis L. Pauselli of St. Lawrence Catholic Church, officiating. Interment will be in Stoltz Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10-11 a.m. on Tuesday. Family suggests memorial contributions be made to Susquehanna Regional Home Health & Hospice, c/o the Providence Foundation, 1001 Grampian Blvd., Williamsport, PA 17701.2
