Vivian E. Valentine was born on 13 April 1919 at Barry, Barry County, Michigan.3,4 She was the daughter of Nelson Orlando Valentine and Nellie A. Cassel.4 Vivian E. Valentine married George Henry Layle Jr., son of George Henry Layle and Wavie Fontella Hines, circa 1938.1,2,3 Vivian E. Valentine died on 25 January 2009 at Wyoming, Kent County, Michigan, at age 89 years, 9 months and 12 days.2,3,4 She was buried in plot 7.260.1, in the Woodlawn Cemetery, located in Grand Rapids, Kent County, Michigan.3
She appeared on the census of 1920 in the household of Nelson Orlando Valentine and Nellie A. Cassel at Carlton Township, Barry County, Michigan.5 Vivian E. Valentine appeared on the census of 1930 in the household of Nelson Orlando Valentine and Nellie A. Cassel at Grand Rapids, Kent County, Michigan.5 Her obituary was published sometime in January 2009 in the local paper, printed in Grand Rapids, Kent County, Michigan. Her obituary stated:
Vivian E. Layle, aged 89, went to be with the Lord after a brief illness, on January 25, 2009.
She was preceded in death by her siblings, William Valentine, Bernard Valentine and Dorotha Haight-Langridge.
Vivian will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 69 years, George H. Layle; her children, Linda David Lester, Rick Darlene Layle, Barb Ron Myers, Tom Donna Layle, Scott Shirley Layle; her 13 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; her 1 great great granddaughter; her sisters-in-law, Anne Valentine, Pearl Valentine; and many nieces and nephews.
A time for relatives and friends to visit with Vivian's family will be Thursday at the Cook Funeral Home in Grandville, 4235 Prairie St. SW west building. Funeral service will be held Friday at the Cook Memorial Chapel east building. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery. In honor of Vivian, contributions may be made to Mel Trotter Ministries or Faith Hospice.3
