Valentine.1,2,3 Richard Alan Layle married, at age 20, Darlene Herp, daughter of Roger John Herp and Laverna O. Kleibusch, on Saturday, 21 November 1964 at Grand Rapids, Kent County, Michigan.1,2,3 Richard Alan Layle died on 24 March 2021 at Grandville, Kent County, Michigan, at age 76 years, 5 months and 16 days.1,3

Richard Alan Layle, age 76, of Grandville, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 24, 2021.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 56 years, Darlene Layle; children: Chris (Missy) Layle, Kerry (Todd) Coleman, Hilary Taber, Ryan (Tina) Layle; grandchildren: Tyler (Kayla) Layle, Kelsey (Cameron) Hufford, Sr. Airman Kaeley (Christian) Sholder, Ryan Taber, Evan Taber and special buddy, Boston Layle; sisters: Linda (Dave) Lester, Barb (Ron) Myers; brothers: Tom (Donna) Layle, Tim (Shirley) Layle; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Vivian Layle.
He proudly served in the U.S. Army.
He retired after 35 years from Steelcase, and later enjoyed his no-stress jobs at Studio 28 and Vans Floral. He was a supportive husband, devoted father and grandfather, and served as a role model and mentor for many. He also enjoyed hobbies such as Sudoku, crossword puzzles, and woodworking.
According to his wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Alphonsus Food Pantry (https://www.stalphonsusgr.org/food-clothing-store).1
