Jessie Ann Haney was born on 25 January 1863 at Keosququa, Van Buren County, Iowa. She was the daughter of Aaron Haney and Melissa Jane Claypool. Jessie Ann Haney married, at age 16, Charles H. McGaffey, age 27 on Sunday, 14 September 1879 at Milton, Van Buren County, Iowa. Jessie Ann Haney died on 28 December 1924 at Keosququa, Van Buren County, Iowa, at age 61 years, 11 months and 3 days. She was buried in the Pittsburg Cemtery, located in Pittsburg, Van Buren County, Iowa.
Her obituary was published sometime in December 1924 in the Stateline Democrat, printed in Keosququa, Van Buren County, Iowa. Her obituary stated:

Jessie Ann Haney was born in Keosauqua, Iowa, Jan. 25, 1863 and departed this life at her home in Keosauqua Dec. 28, 1924.
She was united in marriage to Charles H. McGaffey Sept. 14, 1879, and to this union were born four children: Stanley L. of Des Moines; Minnie J. of Keosauqua, W. Craig of Omaha, Neb; and Nellie M. who is traveling in Florida and could not be located in time. She also leaves five brothers and two sisters.
Mrs. McGaffey united with the M. E. Church at the age of twenty. She was a member of the Rebekahs for a number of years, and an ardent church and lodge worker until late years, when failing health would not permit. She was a patient sufferer and trusted fully in God, having expressed her desire often to be at rest.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon by her pastor Rev. P. S. Apfel.
