Doris L. Brownlee

     Doris L. Brownlee was born on 6 January 1929 at Harrisburg, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of Russell Brownlee and Martha Bastian. Doris L. Brownlee married, at age 21, Thomas E. Sweeley, son of Frank E. Sweeley and Isabelle [—?—], on Saturday, 16 December 1950. Doris L. Brownlee died on 24 March 2018 at Williamsport Home, Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, at age 89 years, 2 months and 18 days. She was buried on 27 March 2018 in the Wildwood Cemetery, located in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.
     Her obituary was published on 25 March 2018 in the Williamsport Sun-Gazette, printed in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. Her obituary stated:

     Doris L. Sweeley, 89, of Williamsport, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Saturday, March 24, 2018 at The Williamsport Home surrounded by her loving family.

Born January 6, 1929 in Harrisburg, she was a daughter of Russell and Martha (Bastian) Brownlee. She married Thomas E. Sweeley on Dec. 16, 1950 and together they celebrated 67 years of marriage.

Doris was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church, where she was the choir director for many years, and singing and organizing the ladies quartet. Her love for music started at an early age as she was a professional singer with her family, the Brownlee Sisters, who at one time sang with Tommy Dorsey. Her love for music continued throughout her life. Doris enjoyed her flower garden, and was a homemaker, but her greatest passion in life was loving and caring for her family.

Surviving in addition to her husband are five children; Thomas E. Sweeley, II (Wendy) of Williamsport, David M. Sweeley (Karen) of Williamsport, Stephen D. Sweeley (Jane) of Dushore, Timothy J. (Lesa) of Montoursville, and Denise L. (John) VanDeLinde of Williamsport, 16 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; two sisters Phyllis Witmer and Frances Satalucia both of Williamsport.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Delores Fisher and two brothers, Russell and Robert Brownlee.

A funeral service to honor the life of Doris will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 27 at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 911 West Third St. Williamsport. Burial will follow in Wildwood Cemetery. A viewing will be held from 10-11 a.m. Tuesday at Church.
