Betty Jane Updegraff was born on 11 December 1920. She was the daughter of Ralph William Updegraff and Eve Marie Watts. Betty Jane Updegraff married, at age 19, Bruce Anson Paulhamus, age 21, son of Anson Paulhamus and Sarah Alma Williamson, on Friday, 25 October 1940 at Newberry United Methodist Church, Newberry, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.1 Betty Jane Updegraff died on 23 January 2008 at Plano, Collin County, Texas, at age 87 years, 1 month and 12 days.1
Her obituary was published on 2 February 2008 in the Williamsport Sun-Gazette, printed in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. Her obituary stated:
Betty U. Paulhamus of Plano, Texas, formerly of Williamsport and Hepburnville, died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2008 in Texas.
Betty was a daughter of William "Bill" and Marie Updegraff, both deceased of Newberry. Betty was married to the late Bruce Paulhamus on October 25, 1940 in the Newberry Methodist Church.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Carole Christensen of Plano, Texas, with whom she lived. Also surviving are three sons, Gary and Ken (Janice) Paulhamus of Omaha, Neb., and Greg Paulhamus of Richardson, Texas. Also three grandsons, Gary Paulhamus Jr. of Arizona, Drake Christensen of Richardson, Texas, and Eric (Jennifer) Christensen and children of Austin, Texas. Also surviving Betty is her sister, Dorothy “Dee” McCrum of Williamsport.
Betty has many friends in the Williamsport area, in part due to the years she was a representative of the Avon Co. Earlier in her life, she had worked with Mr. James Cooney, C.P.A. of Williamsport. She also worked for Little League Baseball Headquarters, South Williamsport.
Funeral arrangements have not been completed, but will be in Texas.1
