Ralph Edward Peoples was born on 12 November 1927 at Mound Valley, Labette County, Kansas.1 He was the son of Ralph Willard Peoples and Mable Pressie Updegraff.1 Ralph Edward Peoples died on 25 February 2007 at Joplin, Jasper County, Missouri, at age 79 years, 3 months and 13 days.1 He was buried in the Park Cemetery, located in Carthage, Jasper County, Missouri.1
He appeared on the census of 2 April 1930 in the household of Ralph Willard Peoples and Mable Pressie Updegraff at Pleasant Valley, Labette County, Kansas. Ralph Edward Peoples appeared on the census of 11 April 1940 in the household of Ralph Willard Peoples and Mable Pressie Updegraff at Carthage, 2nd Ward, Jasper County, Missouri. His obituary was published on 27 February 2007 in the Joplin Globe, printed in Joplin, Jasper County, Missouri. His obituary stated:
Ralph Edward Peoples, 79, went to be with his Lord Sunday, Feb. 25, 2007, at 1:50 a.m. at St. Johns Regional Medical Center, Joplin, Mo.
Mr. Peoples was born Nov. 12, 1927, in Mound Valley, Kan., the son of Ralph Willard Peoples and Pressie Mable (Updegraff) Peoples. His parents preceded him in death.
He was a 1946 graduate of the Carthage Senior High School.
He married Millie Peggy Gipson on Aug. 23, 1946, in Carthage, Mo. She survives.
Two daughters, Barbara Smith and her husband, Art, Joplin, Mo., and Sheila Pollard and her husband, Rodney, Carthage; two sisters, Naola Bee Michael, Carthage, and Mary E. Stager, Akron, Ohio; two brothers, Raymond W. Peoples and Robert L. Peoples, both of Carthage; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren also survive him.
He worked as a pressman for the Carthage Press newspaper for 25 years and as a stereotyper and later in mailing and circulation for the Joplin Globe for 25 years. He retired in 1985.
He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene, Carthage, where he had been a Sunday school teacher and Sunday school superintendent; a member of the Homebuilders Sunday school class; and a member of the Sanctuary Choir.
He was a Boy Scout master, a coach of Pony League Baseball and a coach for the small boys at the YMCA.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, Feb. 27, from 5:30 until 7 p.m. at Knell Mortuary, Carthage.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Feb. 28, at 2 p.m. at the First Church of the Nazarene, Carthage. Rev. Dustin Ledford will officiate. Interment will be in Park Cemetery, Carthage.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the First Church of the Nazarene, Gideons International or the Polycystic Kidney Foundation.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Knell Mortuary, Carthage.1
