     Clarence E. Sprout was born on 16 March 1861 at Muncy, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.1 He was the son of S. E. Sprout and Mary Sutton. Clarence E. Sprout married, at age 25, Anna C. Clapp, daughter of Daniel Clapp and Catherine Lucy Updegraff, on Thursday, 4 November 1886.1
