Salome Shafer

F, (6 September 1822 - 8 July 1883)
     Salome Shafer was born on 6 September 1822 at Hepburn Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of Friedrich Schaeffer and Elizabeth Guinter-Strobel. Salome Shafer married Isaac L. Ulmer, son of Leonard Ulmer Jr. and Mary Stumpf, in 1846.1 Salome Shafer died on 8 July 1883 at Blooming Grove, Hepburn Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, at age 60 years, 10 months and 2 days. She was buried in the Anthony Baptist Church Cemetery, located in Anthony Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.

The second child born to Frederick and Elizabeth Schaeffer was Salome, she sometimes went by Sallie, born September 6, 1822. After her marriage to Isaac Ulmer they went into housekeeping in a log cabin in Anthony Township, Lycoming Counyt, PA. Her favorite pastime was to paint. She was afflicted with diabetes but she would not diet. She always said that she would die with a full stomach. All three of her children were victims of asthma. She died in 1883 and is buried in the Kiess Cemetery near the Anthony Baptist Church.

She is also known as 'Sally' in some references. She and Isaac L. Ulmer appeared on the census of 21 August 1860 at Anthony Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.
