Harmon Updegraff was born in 1738. He was the son of Herman Updegraff and Mary Ann Louden.1 Harmon Updegraff married Lydia Heald on Thursday, 31 May 1759. Harmon Updegraff married Susanna Wilkeson in 1801.1 Harmon Updegraff died on 20 May 1811 at York, York County, Pennsylvania, at age 73 years.
Herman had a tanning and currier business, along with his brothers, John and William. He is listed in the 1799 tax list for York County, Pennsylvania as a tanner, also listed in the 1790 census for York County, Pennsylvania. On 18 Feburary 1812 Thomas Evans, admistiter of Herman's estate, filed an account in Orphan's Court, York County, Pennsylvania; on 12 September 1826 Thomas Evans asked that he be released, whereupon the court appointed Martin Carl in his place, and he filed an account on 7 April 1835. Herman's will was made on 8 Febuary 1810 and probated on 15 June 1811.1
