Ella Jane Updegraff was born in 1854.1 She was the daughter of Samuel Updegraff and Delila Fessler.2 Ella Jane Updegraff married George Lyon Smith on Saturday, 4 November 1876.3
Ella Jane Updegraff appeared on the census of 1 August 1860 in the household of Samuel Updegraff and Jane Longan at Old Lycoming Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. Book K from Orphans Court Docket, page 320 on Jan. 26, 1864 the court appointed Derrick Updegraff as guardian of Ella Jane; then on Dec. 1, 1868 at her request, the court appointed Seth T. Foresman as her guardian, then in 1884 she became of age. She was married by Rev. John Burrows.
