Edna Ruth Stabler was born on 1 August 1921. She was the daughter of Andrew Walter Stabler and Gertude Laura Gilbert. Edna Ruth Stabler married, at age 20, Donald Wilbur Strouble, age 23, son of Elisha M. Strouble and Olive Hendrickson, on Saturday, 23 August 1941.1 Edna Ruth Stabler died on 14 December 2020 at age 99 years, 4 months and 13 days.
As of circa 1980, Edna Ruth Stabler and Donald Wilbur Strouble lived at 340 Bennett Street, Montoursville, Pennsylvania. Her obituary was published on 16 December 2020 on the website for Spitler Funeral Home, Montoursville, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. Her obituary stated:
Edna R. Strouble, 99, of Montoursville, passed away Monday, December 14, 2020, at her residence.
She was born on August 1, 1921 in Pennsdale, the daughter of Andrew W. and Gertrude (Gilbert) Stabler, Sr.
Edna was a secretary with her husband at Lovell & Strouble Machine-Shop, she graduated in 1939 from Montoursville High School and was the last member of the class, was an active member at Bethel United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir and was their oldest member, she enjoyed baking, crocheting and loved and doted on her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Donald W. Strouble; and brother, Andrew W. Stabler, Jr.
Surviving are three daughters, Carolyn K. “Cookie” Stryker, of Fort Worth, TX., Deanna L. Strouble, of Montoursville, and Jacalyn L. Strouble, of Pittsboro; “daughter”, Joyce Rhodes; four grandchildren, Stephanie Widner, Christopher Stryker, Paul and Anthony Frey; seven great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren.
There will be a graveside service Monday, December 21, 2020 11:30 a.m. at Montoursville Cemetery with Rev. Richard M. Barner officiating.
There will be a walk-through viewing on Monday 10-11:00 a.m. at Spitler Funeral Home, 733 Broad St., Montoursville, PA 17754.
Following Pennsylvania Department of Health guidelines, masks and social distancing will be required.
