Barbara Cawood was born on 15 February 1854 at Tennessee. She was the daughter of John McCrunnel Cawood and Marlena VanBebber. Barbara Cawood married David Brawley Alexander circa 1873. Barbara Cawood died on 27 October 1887 at Claiborne County, Tennessee, at age 33 years, 8 months and 12 days. She was buried in the Alexander Cemetery, located in Speedwell, Claiborne County, Tennessee.
