Raymond Woodrow Springman was born on 20 September 1913 at Fairfield Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.1 He was the son of Solomon Springman and Alma May Stabler.1 Raymond Woodrow Springman married, at age 20, Gladys Susannah Hall, age 17 on Saturday, 10 March 1934 at Fairfield Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.2 Raymond Woodrow Springman died on 30 November 2004 at Valley View Nursing Center, Montoursville, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, at age 91 years, 2 months and 10 days.1 He was buried on 3 December 2004 in the Saint James Lutheran Church Cemetery, located in Fairfield Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. The funeral service was officiated by Reverend Beverly D. Cotner.1
His obituary was published on 2 December 2004 in the Williamsport Sun-Gazette, printed in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. His obituary stated:
Raymond W. Springman, 91, of 417 N. Washington St., Montoursville, and a guest at Valley View Nursing Center, died Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2004, at the home. Born Sept. 20, 1913, in Fairfield Township, he was the son of Solomon and Alma Stabler Springman.
He retired as a supervisor for the former H. Warshaw & Son, where he worked for 42 years. He was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, where he was a past church council member, Sunday school superintendent, Sunday school teacher and was secretary and treasurer of the White Church Cemetery Association. He served on the Montoursville Area School Board and was one of the first graduates of the original Montoursville High School. An active bowler, he bowled in many area leagues and was one of the founders of the Fairview Mixed League. He was honored on March 4 as the Golden Age Bowler of the Year for Lycoming County and was a L.C.B.A. member for over 50 years.
He is survived by four sons, Harold E. (Betty), Ronald E. (Nancy), Dennis S. (Sis) and Lanny R., all of Montoursville; a brother, Roy Springman of Montoursville; six grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren. He was predeceased by two brothers and a sister.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. James Lutheran Church, 1679 Lycoming Mall Road, Pennsdale, with the Rev. Beverly Cotner, his pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Church Memorial Fund. Arrangements are in the care of Spitler Funeral Home, Montoursville.1
