Stephen Decatur Staebler was born on 9 April 1876 at Siegfriedsburg, Northampton County, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Jacob C. Stäbler and Eliza Jane Decatur. Stephen Decatur Staebler married, at age 24, Louise J. Ebert on Tuesday, 19 February 1901 at Floyd County, Iowa. Stephen Decatur Staebler died on 3 May 1934 at Floyd County, Iowa, at age 58 years and 24 days. He was buried in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery, located in Charles City, Floyd County, Iowa.
