     Leigh E. Herman was born on 20 March 1912 at Picture Rocks, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.1,2 He was the son of George W. Herman and Nell E. Longbay.1 Leigh E. Herman first married Ruth V. Waltz, daughter of Franklin Clarence Waltz and Ida May Paulhamus, circa 1938.1 Leigh E. Herman married a second time Linda B. Bair circa 1981.1 Leigh E. Herman died on 3 September 2001 at Williamsport Home, Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, at age 89 years, 5 months and 14 days.1,2 He was buried on 6 September 2001 in the State Road United Methodist Church Cemetery, located in Lycoming Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. The funeral service was officiated by Reverend Larry Halverstadt-Cole.1
     Leigh E. Herman was graduated in 1937 from Bucknell University, located in Lewisburg, East Buffalo Township, Union County, Pennsylvania.1

     Leigh E. Herman the father of Carol A. Herman, was listed in her obituary on 13 February 2001 in the Williamsport Sun-Gazette, printed in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.3 His obituary was published on 5 September 2001 Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. His obituary stated:

     Leigh E. Herman, 89, of 1900A Ravine Road, died Monday, September 3, 2001, in the WIlliamsport Home following a brief illness.

His first wife, the former Ruth V. Waltz, died in 1979, his second wife, the former Linda B. Bair, died in 1990.

He was a civil engineer who was a self-employed surveyor. He had been employed by the Williamsport Area School District and taught school for twenty-four years. He was a member of the Calvary U.M. Church since 1939 and was a choir member for 50 years and active in other church committees. He was past president of the Professional Engineers Society, a member of the John F. Laedlein Lodge 707 F.&A.M., the Williamsport Consistory and its choir and the Zafar Grotto and its string band. He was a 1937 graduate of Bucknell University.

He was born in Picture Rocks on March 20, 1912, a son of George W. and Nell E. Longbay Herman.

Surviving are two daughters, Nancy L. Nagle of Mechanicsburg and Jean M. Shilo of Sunbury; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Carol A. Cecco; two brothers, Oliver R. and C. LaRue.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, 2 p.m. at the Knight-Confer Funeral Home, 1914 Memorial Avenue, with Rev. Larry Halverstadt-Cole, his pastor, officiating. A Masonic Service will precede the funeral service. Interment will be in State Road Cemetery. Family will provide the flowers. There will be a visitation from 1-2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.1
According to the Social Security Administrations Death Index Leigh's last known residence was Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.2
