Hazel Evelyn Freise

Hazel Evelyn Freise was born on 24 June 1902 at Snow Shoe Township, Centre County, Pennsylvania.1,2 She was the daughter of Phillip Freise and Mary Ellen Christen. Hazel Evelyn Freise married, at age 19, Merlin Oscar Waltz, age 19, son of Perry A. Waltz and Blanche V. Berry, on Saturday, 24 December 1921 at Home of Benjamin H. Watson, Baltimore, Baltimore County, Maryland, by the Reverend J. W. Grazel.3 Hazel Evelyn Freise died on 14 April 2001 at Williamsport Home, Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, at age 98 years, 9 months and 21 days.2
She and Merlin Oscar Waltz appeared on the census of 5 April 1930 at Old Lycoming Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. Her obituary was published on 16 April 2001 in the Williamsport Sun-Gazette, printed in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. Her obituary stated:
Hazel E. Waltz, 98, of 1316 Colvin Rd., died Saturday, April 14, 2001 in the Williamsport Home following a brief illness. She was married to Merlin O. Waltz who died on June 26, 1983. She was a member of the Buchanan Baptist Church and enjoyed playing bingo.
Born on June 24, 1902 in Snow Shoe, Pa., she was a daughter of Phillip and Mary Ellen Christen Freise. Surviving is a son, Merlin W., city; 6 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and a great-great granddaughter. She was preceded in death by a son, a daughter, 11 brothers and 4 sisters.
Services and interment will be at the convenience of the family. There will be no visitation, family will provide flowers. Knight-Confer Funeral Home.
