Merlin Oscar Waltz was born on 20 February 1902 at Old Lycoming Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.1,2 He was the son of Perry A. Waltz and Blanche V. Berry. Merlin Oscar Waltz married, at age 19, Hazel Evelyn Freise, age 19, daughter of Phillip Freise and Mary Ellen Christen, on Saturday, 24 December 1921 at Home of Benjamin H. Watson, Baltimore, Baltimore County, Maryland, by the Reverend J. W. Grazel.3 Merlin Oscar Waltz died on 26 June 1983 at Williamsport Hospital, Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, at age 81 years, 4 months and 6 days.1,2 He was buried on 29 June 1983 in the Buchanan Baptist Church Cemetery, located in Old Lycoming Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.4

MR., MRS. WALTZ MARRIED 50 YEARS
Mr. and Mrs. Merlin O. Waltz, Williamsport RD 2, will observe their 50th wedding anniversary on December 24th. They were married at the home of the bride's cousin, Benjamin H. Watson, in Baltimore, Maryland, by the Rev. J. W. Grazel.
The former Hazel Friese, Mrs. Waltz is a native of Snow Shoe. Her husband is a native of Old Lycoming Township. He is engaged in farming and is employed by Old Lycoming Township.
Members of the Buchanan Baptist Church, Williamsport RD 2, they are the parents of a son Merlin W., this city. There are three grandchildren.
Open house will be held at their home from 2 to 4 p.m. on December 24th.
