Mary Louise Metzger was born on 4 September 1932.1 She was the daughter of Clyde McKinley Metzger and Ruth Edna Williams. Mary Louise Metzger married, at age 22, Howard R. Davis on Wednesday, 29 December 1954 at Saint Paul's Evangelical United Brethren Church, Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, by the Reverend Ben Heiser. Mary Louise Metzger died on 13 February 2007 at age 74 years, 5 months and 9 days.
As of 1985, Mary Louise Metzger lived at 4365 Eyster Avenue, RD #4, Spring Grove, Pennsylvania. Her obituary was published on 15 February 2007 in the Williamsport Sun-Gazette, printed in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. Her obituary stated:
Mary Louise "Bunnie" Davis, 74, of Hanover, and formerly of Spring Grove, entered into God's kingdom and His eternal care Tuesday, February 13, 2007 at Homewood of Plum Creek.
She was the wife of Howard R. Davis, who died March 2, 1990. A long-term survivor of cancer and other illnesses, Bunnie's life was a blessed testament to her faith in God, and her love for her family.
Born September 4, 1932 in Williamsport, PA, Bunnie was a daughter of the late Clyde and Ruth (Williams) Metzger.
A graduate of West Chester University with a B.A. in Education, Bunnie was employed with United Airlines as a stewardess while her fiance, Howard Davis, served with distinction during the Korean War. Upon their wedding in 1954, the Davis' moved to Greensburg, PA and then to Wooster, OH, where Bunnie taught second grade.
After the birth of their first son, Steven, the Davis family moved to State College, PA where they co-owned a dairy, Spruce Valley Farms, and completed their family with the births of sons Scott and Christopher. In 1974, the Davis' moved to the Hanover area.
Bunnie was an active member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Hanover, where she served as a hospitality desk volunteer and service greeter. She was also employed as a realtor in Hanover for many years, and was a member of the Realtors Association of York and Adams Counties.
Surviving are three sons, Steven Davis and his wife Pam, of Lititz, PA, Scott Davis and his wife Toni, of Pensacola, FL, and Christopher Davis and his wife Julie, of Bend, OR; two sisters, Ruth Ann Nolt, of Columbus, OH, and Alice Moltz, of Williamsport, PA; four grandchildren, Lauren, Brittany, Ella, and Mark Davis.
Bunnie was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Metzger, and a sister, Marilyn Wesner.
A funeral service to remember Bunnie and honor God's grace in her life will held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, February 17, 2007 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 30 W. Chestnut St., Hanover. Rev. Matthew B. Pensinger will lead the service. A viewing will take place at 10:00 AM, Saturday in the church and continue until the service begins. Burial will be private at St. Paul's Dubs Cemetery, Hanover.
