George Kinley

M, (1770 - 25 August 1847)
     George Kinley was born in 1770 at Berks County, Pennsylvania.1 He married Salome Stiller, daughter of Solomon Stiller.1 George Kinley died on 25 August 1847 at Buffalo Valley, Union County, Pennsylvania, at age 77 years.
     He appeared on the census of 1800 in East Buffalo Twp, Northumberland, PA. He appeared on the census of 1810 in East Buffalo Twp, Northumberland, PA. He relocated in 1812 to Buffalo Valley, Union, PA. He appeared on the census of 1820 in Lycoming County, PA. He appeared on the census of 1830 in Lycoming County, PA. He appeared on the census of 1840 in Lycoming County, PA. He left a will on 14 August 1847 at Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. It stated:

     WILL, Lycoming Co. Courthouse, V B, p 31, Aug 14, 1847

     I, George Kinly of Lycoming Township, Lycoming County have found myself induced to furnish before my death a will in reference to my worldly property and to ordain in which manner I wish to have it executed after my departure,

     1st I constitute my beloved wife Salome to be the only and sole heir of all the property I leave behind so that in reference to it neither any opposition can be made by my other heirs nor can be valid in any wise.

     2nd I ordain that Sebastian Riehm shall become the Administrator of my (property?) Estate and that said Sebastian Reihm shall (sell?) after the departure of my wife Salome all my ? property (vendue?).

     3rd I ordain that my daughter shall receive $20.00 in advance and then when the land will have been sold have an equal share with the then heirs namely my daughter Anna that is married to Abraham Schwele.

     4th I ordain that my son Immanuel shall receive as his sohole inheritance or share no more than the sum of $40.00.

     5th I ordain that likewise the children of my son Esaias shall not receive more than the sum of $10.00 as their sohole share.

     6th I ordain that my remaining property shall be divided among my other children in equal shares.

     The above written is now my (best?) liked and last will as I wish that after my death and the death of my wife it shall be executed and in no other way. Given and ordained in my usual dwelling room of my own free will without being persuaded or urged and in possession of my sound understanding. In virtue of my signature Ano 1867 August the 14th.

     We the undersigned do testify that George Kinly has laid open to us this his last testament and will and with a sound judgment declared his intention that after his own death and the death of his wife it shall be executed as it is here written; at the same time to we testify that the Testator was in the possession of his full and perfect and sound understanting. Lycoming County ss: This 20th day of August A.D. 1847, before me (J. B. Sorbett?), Register for the probate of wills & granting letters of administration in & for the county personally appeared Rev. Jonas Kochler who being duly according to law did depose and say that the foregoing instrument of writing is a true and perfect copy or translation of the last will and testament of George Kinly deceased the original being written in German.

Letters testamentary issued to Sebastian Riehm the Executor named in the foregoing will. Executor sworn & will registered. Aug. 25, 1847. He lived in Berks County, Pennsylvania.

The following biographical sketch for George Kinley was found in the 1892 "History of Lycoming County, Pennsylvania," by John F. Meginness, editor on page 1130. It stated:

     George Kinley of Berks County, Pennsylvania came to Buffalo Valley, Union County, in 1812, and settled upon the land where James Peters now resides [1892]. He bought 200 acres from the Vanderbuilt family, and resided there until his death. He married Selina Stiller, who bore him the following children: Daniel; George; Jesse; Emanuel; Judy, who married Michael Quigley [Quigle]; Elizabeth, who became the wife of a Mr. Updegraff; Leah, who married George Quigley [Quigle]; and Annie, who became the wife of a Mr. Sweeley. Mr. Kinley was an old-line Whig in politics, and of the Lutheran faith.2
